We Broke Up

We had to break up (my original trademark and I) - over the phone, nonetheless. I spoke with the Intake Specialist for the Trademark My Stuff team. She was kind, knowledgeable, and answered ALL of my questions. Her responses to my inquiries reassured me that I made the right choice by choosing the McGhee Law Firm. Remember...I was so emotionally attached to the original proposed trademark that it hurt when the Opinion Letter advised (strongly) that the chances of my application being rejected was almost guaranteed. So, I put my pride aside and broke up with my original trademark idea.

While speaking with the Intake Specialist, I bounced two more ideas off of her. She let me ramble out loud about why I liked and disliked the other two trademark ideas that I came up with. I literally threw words out there and she made sense of it all. She was so engaged in our conversation and she didn't rush me. The conversation ended with me feeling at peace with the change of direction.

In addition to helping me organize my thoughts, the lovely Intake Specialist stayed on the phone with me while I resubmitted my updated trademark application and confirmed its receipt. The McGhee Law Firm and Trademark My Stuff team will research my new trademark idea and send me a new Opinion Letter with the results of their research in about 4-5 business days.

Despite the minor detour, I'm STILL excited about this trademarking process. As an entrepreneur, I believe it's important to be able to pivot when needed. Don't get me wrong, having a plan is paramount to succeeding in life. However, a little flexibility makes life a lot easier.

How did you navigate disappointments in your entrepreneurship journey? Were you resolute? Or did you adjust your plan as often as you needed to? Let me know below!
